Teaching with intention and innovation
About me

Hi there! My name is Michael, and I’m an assistant professor of biology currently working at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado! As educators, we work tirelessly to improve our courses and innovate our materials for our students. I wanted to create this space to share my teaching materials with all of YOU and give us opportunities to connect with one another about pedagogy, classroom strategies, etc.
I received my PhD in biology at University of Oregon in 2023 studying molecular evolution using fluorescent proteins from coral in the lab of Dr. Mike Harms. In 2018, I graduated from Doane University with my BS in biology with a couple of minors in computational science and French.
In my previous teaching experience at University of Oregon and Lane Community College in Eugene, Oregon, I taught courses in evolution, plant biology, and introductory cell biology for health occupation majors. Currently, at CSU, I teach introductory biology for majors, general biology for non-STEM majors, and developmental biology for upper division majors.
Let’s connect!
